Cold Case Explorations

Support Cold Case Explorations

If you're not aware, I also run a cold case research website (Cold Case Explorations) where I dive deep into the forgotten mysteries that continue to haunt communities and families in the United States and beyond. Every cold case represents more than just an unsolved mystery; it represents lives forever changed, questions unanswered, and justice delayed and therefore denied.

My commitment to keeping my well-researched and comprehensive articles free means I spend considerable time and effort digging into each case without compensation. I believe in keeping my content free and accessible to everyone, without paywalls, because I know the work I do matters. Additionally, I do not participate in or accept sponsorships from third-party companies. For these reasons and more, I’m beyond grateful for any financial support!

Ideally, I'd like to get to a place where I could do this meaningful and important work full-time. However, real life requires money, and as it is now, I am the one footing the bill for hosting and server costs. If you would like to support me and my work, consider purchasing one or more of the following Cold Case Explorations-themed items below, or any of my other artwork available on this website.

Cold Case Explorations FAQs

Do you have a team of researchers and coworkers or is it just you?

The Cold Case Explorations website, along with all the research, writing, video editing/production, graphics, this merchandise site, and everything else related to Cold Case Explorations is run solely by me, MacKenzie Skylar Aries. As you can imagine, it's a ton of work to juggle everything by myself. That being said, I'm tenacious and hard working (if all of this content isn't enough of a testament to that), and I endeavor to continue this meaningful work as long as I am financially able to.

How did you get into true crime?

True crime became one of my special interests sometime around 2015, and everything started snowballing from there. I watched every documentary and fact-based show I could get my hands on, and am still big fans of a lot of true crime YouTubers.

Why do you focus on cold cases specifically?

There’s a unique purpose in turning attention to cases that time seems to have forgotten. While solved crimes have found their resolution—their perpetrators (hopefully) held accountable, their victims honored with justice—cold cases remain in limbo. For me, this work is about more than just uncovering facts; it’s about honoring the memories of those who can no longer speak for themselves. Each cold case represents a family suspended in grief, unable to fully heal without the answers they so desperately seek. They live in a perpetual and painful state of uncertainty, where closure remains forever out of reach. These families and loved ones have watched as media attention faded, the investigators moved on to newer cases, and as their loved one’s story slowly disappeared from public consciousness… but it never disappeared from their consciousness.

I have a cold case suggestion. How can I reach out to you?
